Girls Unleashed - Part 2

We drove along a stony path which lead to … was that a castle? Well, it certainly looked like one. It was beautiful, even more beautiful in real life than on the pictures that were in the brochure. The building had small towers popping out everywhere. The building itself was creamy and light brown matching the gigantic front door out of glass. In fact, there was a lot of glass due to the fact that there were big windows everywhere. The castle, how I liked to call it, was surrounded by a lot of trees. Actually, I hadn’t seen any houses since we drove up the path which was about 20m long. We parked in the parking lot which was right in front of the second building with a smaller door. The house was located on the left of the main building. Boys and girls around me were getting out of their cars, hugging and kissing their moms and dads goodbye. Others were already in groups, rolling or carrying their bags and suitcases to the main building. My whole body shook. I was seriously here. I mean, wow! I had always dreamed about this but I couldn’t believe it was happening. How long had I waited for this moment? Too long for me to remember and now all I wanted to do was to turn around and run away! My stomach turned. “Are you okay?” My dad stared at me, his face wrinkled with confusion and concern. “Yeah, I’m fine, great actually. Really, really good. I mean, why wouldn’t I, right? I’m fine, really, don’t worry, Dad. Great. Fine … Um, I’m gonna stop talking, now.” He laughed. “Nervous, huh?” He knew me too well. My relationship with my dad had always been great, he knew me inside and out. He knew that I spoke too much and got noxious when I was nervous; I chewed my lips when I had something on my mind etc, etc.

“Yeah… A bit, I guess” I stared out the window. I wasn’t ready to go out there. I sighed. “So, this is it,” Dad looked at me. We were still sitting in the car. I looked at him. His eyes were wet. “This is it,” I sighed once more. This was no where as easy as I thought it would be. “I have one last thing to give you… It’s a little farewell present from your mom and me. It’s nothing big but I think you’re gonna like it”

“Oh Dad, you didn’t have to do this. I mean, it’s not the end. I’ll just be away for a little while”

“I know, I know. It just seems like the end… Anyways, stay here, I’ll get it from the back”

My dad got out of the car and rushed to the trunk, opening it and coming back with … a cage???

“A cage? What’s in there?” I stared at him in disbelief.

“Oh, it’s … nothing. Mom and I know that you’ve wished for one your whole life. I checked with the school. It’s okay. It’s aloud to stay with you, many girls have one. In fact, they even have a salon! Can you believe it? For those things?” He shook his head and then he gave me the pink cage…

To be continued.
